Secondhand in a circular economy – 3 panels, 3 cities and 16 personalities!

We can give products a second life, use them longer, share them, pass them on, reuse them, repair them or refurbish them - and thereby reduce the amount of new goods. By changing our daily consumption behavior, we are making a major contribution to the shift from a linear economic model to a circular economy - this is what the Secondhand Day on Saturday, September 25, 2021 wants to make us aware of.

To kick off the Secondhand Day, three panel discussions on the topic of "Secondhand in a circular economy" will already take place on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Impact Hubs in Zurich, Bern and Lausanne - as well as streamed live by 20 Minuten.

Panel 1 | Lausanne or Online | 16.00 - 17.00 p.m.
Circular Heroes tell - Experiences of producers from the practice

At the first panel in Lausanne, "Circular Heroes", i.e. producers from the field of the circular economy, will talk about their practical experiences. Using practical examples, they will demonstrate various approaches and possible actions in the circular economy - from Circular Design to Reuse, Reduce, Recycle, Sharing, and new business models such as Product as a Service.

Panel 1 will be moderated by Matthieu Hoffstetter. Discussing:

  • Adèle Thorens Goumaz, Conseillère aux Etats

  • Cédric Mulhauser, Co-fondateur Geneve ID Wathces

  • Amanda Byrde, Co-Présidente, Impact Hub Switzerland / Circular Economy Transition (CET)

Circular economy in textiles- how do I dress circularly?

We deepen the focus: from general circular action options when buying products, we now focus specifically on the textile sector. Experts will use practical examples to show how the circular economy can be implemented in the context of textiles and fashion. The path goes from "rework", "repair" to "resale", "reuse", "sharing" and "product as a service". Get inspired!

Panel 3 will be moderated by Annina Campell, television presenter at SRF. Discussing:

  • Francesco Vass, CEO, Ricardo

  • Pia-Maria Laux, Co-Founder, Brand & Innovation SHAREaLOOK

  • Doris Abt, Member of the Executive Board, Fashion Revolution Switzerland

  • Tobias Meier, Sustainable Textiles 2030 / Senior Project Manager, ecos

The event is organized by Circular Economy Switzerland and Ricardo - with partners Impact Hub, MoveTheDate Switzerland and One Planet Lab.
