The Innovation
Accelerate2030 is the world’s largest program supporting entrepreneurs from developing and emerging markets to scale their solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Co-initiated in 2016 by Impact Hub and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the program has to date been present in 24+ countries, supporting 200+ entrepreneurs across the globe.
In March 2021 we are launching the 4th edition of the program across 24 locations with a focus on circular economy and we are hosting a session at the Festival to share inspirational content on the topic brought by thought leaders and entrepreneurs driving the shift toward circular economy.
The Opportunity
Circular economy is a systemic approach with the purpose to reduce the consumption of natural resources and to contribute to sustainable development. Our session will unpack the concept of circular economy as a new model for building a more sustainable economy and a roadmap to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Starting with an inspirational introduction by bold thought leaders in the field, the workshop will be followed by practical insights from Accelerate2030 entrepreneurs who are making an invaluable economic shift on the ground. We will particularly focus on the importance of partnerships and multi-stakeholder projects in driving circularity globally.
The Participants
The session is open to a general audience, and could be particularly beneficial to entrepreneurs and businesses seeking a combination of economic, social and environmental outcomes, public actors in charge of sustainable development and planning, environmentalists, and enthusiasts.
The Contribution
Workshop participants will be invited on an exploration journey into the relatively novel concept of circular economy. The workshop will showcase circular ventures and Accelerate2030 alumni and their experiences with partnerships and multi-stakeholder projects that support resource efficiency and sustainability globally. The session will aim to inspire and enable the attendees to implement circularity strategies in their everyday work, and provide them with access to knowledge and engagement opportunities through the 4th edition of Accelerate2030. No previous experience in the topic is necessary- Just bring yourself, a courage for change, curiosity, and a thrive for innovation.
The Take Aways
The main objective of the workshop is to create an opportunity for cross-sectoral and result-oriented exchange between thought leaders in the area, entrepreneurs doing work on the ground and enthusiasts. The event aims to showcase and provide an opportunity to learn from best practice circularity implementations from different countries and contribute to the development and strengthening of partnerships internationally.
