The Café spurlos follows the vision of leaving no trace on this earth. As part of the ZEWIL (Zero Waste Innovation Lab) project, we are the place where researched concepts on “how to make the Swiss gastronomy more sustainable '' get tested in our café to make sure that they are practically working for the gastronomy and not only in theory. Already in the process of building up the café the zero waste vision was very central. The interior setting is 2nd hand, the equipment such as the coffee machine for example is 2nd hand as well, some furniture is upcycled and the toilets are compost toilets. Now, we are open and focus on a zero waste philosophy of the products we sell. Milk from a regional farmer in the glass bottle, coffee in reusable bags etc. Learn and see in this workshop how we build the café and are running it now, what challenges we faced and how we managed to overcome them.
The new Impact Hub Basel building in the Dreispitz area was designed and renovated using circular and sustainable design principles. These approaches include vintage, re-purposed and upcycled furniture and interiors; heat recovery shower, composting toilets among others. Join us for this virtual building tour to learn more about how we jumped from theory to practice.
This event is on invite only. No registration possible.
